About West Knoxville, Knoxville, Tennessee: This location in Knoxville is growing like a weed. Because of recent residential and business expansions, West Knoxville contains both of today's growth and yesterday's countryside topography. My acrylic painting represents the latter.

In the area of Kingston Pike and Cedar Bluff Road, in West Knoxville, are three hayfields. This is one of those fields. As you can see, the Hampton Inn Hotel can be seen beyond the red house, with a slight visual of businesses to the viewer's left. What cannot be seen from this perspective is the I-40 Interstate. Westbound I-40 heads towards Nashville, TN; eastbound goes in the direction of the Smoky Mountains and Asheville, NC.

Back to the painting: One-quarter mile either direction past this hayfield can be found shopping centers containing restaurants, stores, theaters, and other types of commercial enterprises - not to mention residential areas. But all around West Knoxville are still trac...

Bob took up oil painting as a high school student. But, sometime later, while still in high school, he switched from oils to acrylics, why you may ask. Because Bob's 'art studio' was Bob's bedroom. The smells of the oil paints and linseed oil permeating the house annoyed the rest of the family. But, to this day, if painting, Bob still paints in acrylics. Also, Bob works in pastels on occasion. Bob took up pastel painting, besides acrylic painting, while in high school. Later in life, around 2007, Bob discovered he had a trigger finger for the camera.
